COOPER TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — Updated reports say now that five of the seven feeder cattle that got away have now been recapttured, and just two continue to roam the country side. They are more of a hazard to drivers and traffic than an actual threat to people. If you see two cattle where they don’t belong, give the Sheriff’s Department a call.
COOPER TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — There is never a cowboy around when you need one.
The search for a small herd of anti-social cows continues in Cooper Township.
Undersheriff James VanDyken says the rogue cattle have been on the loose for a couple of days, breaking through a number of fences.
It has been reported that three of the seven fugitive cows have been recaptured and sent to the slaughterhouse.
Four remain on the loose. He says the feeding cattle have had limited exposure to people and are likely to run off if any come near.
They could present a hazard to motorists if they decide to cross a roadway and VanDyken says drivers in the area should be mindful that they may suddenly appear in their headlights.
He says the owners have been trying to locate the cows but in the wooded terrain, that’s been hard to do, especially since they have been avoiding any human contact.
They are asking that anyone who spots the cows should not approach them but should call 9-1-1 and report their location.
