KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Water main breaks in Kalamazoo can happen even on the nicest day, not just in the dead of winter.
The failure of a water main on E.Kilgore Road near Sprinkle has resulted in a loss in pressure, prompting the County Health Department to issue a boil water alert for properties served by that water main.
In fact this is one of the largest in some time.
It has impacted a large number of businesses on the south east side and the entire Pavillion Estates Mobile Home park.
Firms from Green Bay Packaging to the Renaissance Banquet Hall, to Summit Polymers and PRAB are impacted. So is the Kalamazoo Road Commission headquarters and Cottage Inn Pizza.
Its not clear if the threat to the water supply will impact any industrial operations, but homeowners are advised to boil it or buy it bottled before they drink it, until tests can be conducted.
