KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo School Trustees approved a resolution last night calling on the state legislature to adequately fund education; something they say hasn’t been done for decades.
Trustee Ken Greschak made the motion. He says educators statewide agree that it’s time for the state to provide funding that covers the true cost of an education.
Superintendent Michael Rice cited numerous studies supporting their position, one that has been taken up by Governor Whitmer in her budget.
The Senate Budget proposal would spend $131-million dollars less on Public Education than the Governor proposed. The House has not yet acted.
