PORTAGE (WKZO AM/FM) — The City of Portage will hold a lottery to hand out three provisional permits for medical marijuana dispensaries Thursday morning.
Portage received 13 applications for provisioning centers, but only four met the guidelines for minimum spacing between marijuana businesses.
They have already been awarded provisional permits.
The nine others will participate in a lottery later this morning.
Three of them will also meet the spacing standard after the other six are eliminated at random.
The developers who get the local permits will have to show them to Michigan’s new marijuana licensing agency to be eligible for state permits.
