KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A kayaker is safe after a water rescue along the banks of the Kalamazoo River on Sunday.
Public Safety officers were called to the scene after the woman’s kayak got stuck in debris and filled with water.
She managed to get to shore, but found herself walled-in by an abandoned train tressel and high walls near Mayor’s RiverFront Park.
Officers used a rescue boat to get her off the bank and two other canoers were able to dislodge her submerged kayak and recover her wallet, cellphone and car keys.
