KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Downtown Kalamazoo and Portage are about to get more vibrant.
Kalamazoo in Bloom is asking for volunteers to help put together Mike the Peacock and other topiary structures and prepare flower beds during their community planting days.
The volunteer days begin Tuesday May 14th and run through the 23rd.
New this year, Kalamazoo in Bloom’s Executive Director Monika Trahe says Mike will now have a new friend with a second peacock in Bronson Park.
All community planting days begin at 9 a.m. in various locations either in Kalamazoo or Portage.
Volunteers do not need gardening experience but are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes and bring gardening gloves, shovels, buckets, a kneeling pad or any other helpful tools if they have them.
A link to sign up and more information can be found at kalamazooinbloom.org.
