KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man is now in custody after public safety officers and SWAT team members surrounded his home in the Edison Neighborhood.
A heavy police presence was reported at the intersection of Stockbridge Avenue and Bank Street Tuesday afternoon after police received reports about an altercation between a man and a woman inside the home.
The suspect apparently had a firearm, threatened the victim, damaged her car, and fled the scene when officers entered the home.
The 30-year-old Kalamazoo man was found nearby and charged with felonious assault.

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — An investigation is underway after Kalamazoo Public Safety officers surrounded a home in the Edison Neighborhood.
A heavy police presence was reported at the intersection of Stockbridge Avenue and Bank Street around 2 p.m. Tuesday and the area was shut down for several hours.
The SWAT team was also called in to attempt to make contact with a suspect inside, but apparently they were not found.
Several hours later officers reopened the intersection, but no other information on the incident has been released.
