MARENGO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — It was a crowded commute on I-94 near Marshall Tuesday morning.
A crash was reported on eastbound I-94 after exit 112 in Marengo Township just before 5 a.m., shutting down the freeway and causing a major backup for several hours.
Michigan State Police say a 29-year-old Marshall woman rear-ended a semi-truck causing her vehicle to go underneath the trailer.
She was trapped inside and had to be pried out of the wreck and airlifted to the hospital. Her current condition has not been released.
Investigators believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash but they are still looking into the incident.
MDOT tweeted that the freeway was reopened just before 7:30 a.m., but the abrupt slow down also resulted in a handful of minor crashes throughout the morning.
