PAW PAW TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A sunken boat is now back on the shore thanks to the Van Buren County and Allegan County Dive Teams.
The “Duffy Cat” 16-foot pontoon boat sank in Brownwood Lake in Paw Paw Township on May 25th while being operated by the owner and some friends, but luckily nobody was injured.
Several weeks later on June 13th, the two dive teams recovered the boat about 36-feet under during a training dive, put lift bags under it, brought it back to the surface, and pulled it to shore.
They say the pontoon floats had leaks in them that had been filing up with water, which caused it to sink.
