GENEVA TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Covert man is facing multiple charges for fleeing from officers on a stolen motorcycle and later crashing in Van Buren County.
Deputies attempted to pull over the motorcyclist who was speeding in Geneva Township Wednesday night but he continuing driving recklessly, passing other vehicles and disregarding traffic signals.
They then decided to terminate their pursuit for the safety of other drivers and that’s when the motorcyclist went off the road and crashed into a field at 56th Street and 18th Avenue.
The 29-year-old suspect fled on foot before he was arrested.
It was determined that the motorcycle was stolen from Allegan County a year ago and the man admitted to being under the influence of meth and ecstasy.
He was booked into the Van Buren County Jail for fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing, possession of a stolen motorcycle, operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs, and for a traffic warrant out of Kalamazoo County.
