KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Cass County Sheriffs’ Office is currently investigating a shooting that took place in Vandalia on Friday. Police were called to the 62000 block of Cass Ave in Vandalia, at approximately 10:00 pm. Emergency responders were sent to a call of a man who was shot in the abdomen.
On scene officers immediately administered first aid to James E. Hodges Jr., a 37 year old Vandalia resident, for a gunshot to his abdomen. James was transported by Lifecare to Aircare and then to South Bend Memorial Hospital for his injuries where he is in critical but stable condition.
After deputies conducted their investigation it was determined that during a domestic altercation Mr. Hodges was shot in the abdomen by a 15 year old, whose name is being withheld due to his juvenile status. At this time no arrest have been made, and the case still remains under investigation.
