LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Four people are injured, two critically, after a 4-car freeway crash in Van Buren County.
Deputies were called to the 52 Mile marker of westbound I-94 in Lawrence Township just after 11:00 a.m. Monday where they found the multiple car crash, with several occupants trapped inside the vehicles, and fuel leaking from one vehicle.
All the injuries were inside a Subaru that was found in a ditch with severe front and rear damage and first responders began assisting the two critically injured occupants, with one going in and out of consciousness.
A Ford van was found overturned on its side blocking both lanes of traffic, a Cadillac had rear end damage, and the fourth vehicle was found 100-yards away in the ditch stuck on a culvert.
A 21-year-old man from Richland was airlifted to Bronson Methodist, a 24-year-old woman from Marysville was rushed by ambulance, and a 21-year-old woman and 23-year-old man both from Kalamazoo were listed in stable condition.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and it is being reconstruction by Michigan State Police.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
