SOUTHWEST MI (WKZO AM/FM) — As Michigan farmers wait for approval of the USDA’s Disaster Designation, one Southwest Michigan lawmaker is getting a front row seat.
Congressman Fred Upton is touring several Southwest Michigan farms on Tuesday to view how the extreme weather has impacted local agriculture.
During the stops Upton will speak with farmers and listen to the challenges they are facing after the third wettest year on record in Michigan’s history.
Nearly 38 inches of rain have fallen between May 1, 2018 and April 30, 2019.
Upton will visit Russel Costanza Farms in Sodus at 9 a.m. Tuesday and then travel to Hood Dairy Farms in Paw Paw at 11 a.m. before ending at Gibson Farms in Scotts at 1 p.m.
