ATHENS TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Calhoun County man has been charged, accused of brutally killing a puppy last month.
22-year-old Erik Paul Taylor is accused of killing his sister-in-law’s 5-month-old puppy with a chainsaw on January 23rd. The sister-in-law told the Battle Creek Enquirer that a different family member was supposed to watch the dog while her and her husband visited friends that day, but the family member ended up leaving the dog in Taylor’s care. Two weeks earlier, he apparently had made comments saying the dog was possessed and should be killed.
When she returned home, she noticed the dog was missing. When deputies arrived, Taylor gave various responses and excuses before admitting to killing the puppy. He also made the same claims about the dog being possessed.
Taylor is due in court February 9th and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
