COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — 9 Michigan lakes, including one in Kalamazoo County, are under a contamination advisory after high levels of bacteria were found in the water.
The Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department issued the advisory on Tuesday for Campbell Lake at Robert Morris Park in Comstock Township after it tested more than 5-times the recommended safe level for E. Coli.
But beach-goers were still allowed to swim at their own risk on the 4th of July. Families were notified about the contamination.
The other 8 lakes affected by the advisories are mainly in Southeast Michigan and Northern Michigan.
