VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office is welcoming their newest 4-legged co-worker.
The 8-week-old German Shepherd will be trained in narcotics detection, including marijuana, so she can be used in local schools.
Deputy Scott Schmitt will be her handler and use the K-9 as a positive public outreach in schools and in the community.
The pup will be named by Sheriff Daniel Abbot after local input, with the choice currently between Kimber and Aspen.
