VICKSBURG, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Residents in the village of Vicksburg are celebrating more than just a sunny day of fun family activities.
On Monday their Celebration of Community event also came with a special announcement, that village trustees have voted to cut taxes by half a mil.
Village Trustee Carl Keller says they have been striving to save money by tightening the budget with the goal of giving back to the community.
The tax cut will save residents about $55 to $60 in annual savings for every $100,000 in state equalized property value.
Trustees added that if the plan goes well they could see another full mil reduction within the next five years.
