KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A former clerk for the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office is being formally charged after she turned herself in for embezzlement.
Marcie Copeland was arraigned on Friday for a single charge of embezzling more than $20,000 after she was caught stealing funds that were sent by family members to inmates of the Kalamazoo County Jail.
If convicted, Copeland could spend up to 10-years in prison and have to pay up to 3-times the amount embezzled.
Her preliminary hearing is set for August 13th.
