KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Some drivers may be coming across some new construction issues around downtown Kalamazoo this week, and they’ll be sticking around for a couple months.
Michigan Department of Transportation’s Nick Schirripa says they will be doing some work on the East Michigan Avenue bridge over the Kalamazoo River from now through mid-October with single-lane closures at times.
The $268,000 project includes deck patching, crack sealing, resealing joints, concrete curb and gutter, approach work, and pavement markings.
Once compete, the construction work will extend the life of the roadway as well as improve safety and ride quality.
Schirripa says drivers should give themselves extra time when traveling through this area, especially during the morning and evening commute hours.
