BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Deputy Secretary Dr. Paul R. Lawrence will visit the Battle Creek VA Medical Center this Saturday to announce the “go live” of the new Federal Electronic Healthcare Record system.
The Battle Creek VA Medical Center join VA facilities in Ann Arbor, Saginaw, and Detroit in implementing the new technology. VA officials say it marks the culmination of a year of intensive training and preparation in how Veteran healthcare will be tracked and delivered across the nation.
VA Secretary Doug Collins says the new Electronic Healthcare Record, currently utilized by the Department of War, will allow for a single, streamlined health record that follows servicemembers from their first day of active duty through their life as a veteran. It’s expected to be online at all facilities nationwide by 2031.
