BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – It appears a two-year-old child suffered no serious injuries after being run over in a driveway by a family member in Calhoun County’s Bedford Township Tuesday.
The Battle Creek Police Department says the accident happened in the 100 block of Finlay Avenue shortly after 6:00 p.m.
The family member that had been driving the vehicle told officers that when they stepped outside of the home, they had left the two-year-old child inside of the home with the child’s mother and another child.
As the family member began to drive their truck out of the driveway, they observed that the family’s dog was outside. At the same time, the family member said they felt their truck drive over something, and that was when they spotted the child on the ground, in the truck’s rearview mirror.
The family member added that they had not seen the child outside, until spotting the child in the rearview mirror.
The child was alert and conscious when police arrived, with no obvious signs of severe injury other than abrasions. The child was treated on scene by LifeCare Ambulance and the Bedford Township Fire Department, and was later transported to Bronson Hospital of Kalamazoo in stable condition.
