LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed an executive order to declare a state of energy emergency in Michigan.
The order suspends the requirement that lower vapor pressure gas be sold as of May 1st in counties in southeast Michigan.
The lower vapor pressure gasoline, commonly known as summer blend, is more expensive.
Whitmer’s office says the order should lower prices by between ten and 20-cents a gallon.
Crude oil prices have been elevated since the U.S. and Israel began their war against Iran, which has disrupted the global oil market with the closure by Iran of the Strait of Hormuz.
