LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer is asking President Donald Trump to declare a federal disaster for three counties as a result of four tornadoes that killed four people on March 6th.
The tornadoes ripped through Cass, St. Joseph, and Branch counties.
The largest was an EF-3 that hit Union City in Branch County, killing three.
One person was killed in Edwardsburg in Cass County, and an EF-2 tornado caused massive damage to the Menards store in Three Rivers.
U.S. Senator Gary Peters, a Democrat, and Republican Congressman Tim Walberg joined Whitmer in asking for the disaster declaration.
