THREE RIVERS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Cleanup efforts are continuing around southwest Michigan as a result of the four tornadoes that hit from Edwardsburg to Clarendon Township on Friday.
Over 50 American Red Cross volunteers have done preliminary residential damage assessments at over 270 homes in the four communities and say 68 of those were either destroyed or suffered major damage.
They have also distributed 118 relief items including comfort kits, tarps, trash bags, shovels, heavy-duty gloves and rakes in impacted communities. With the help of partners, more than 400 meals and snacks have been provided.
The Red Cross adds that their disaster assistance is free thanks to donors and volunteers.
Four people were killed in the tornadoes. One was in Edwardsburg, and the other three were in Union City.
