KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is looking for a 37-year-old man wanted for murder.
Nelson Cobas is accused of shooting and killing 35-year-old Jamel Coleman around 5 p.m. on February 22nd. A 33-year-old woman was also shot and injured, and she has been released from a hospital.
Cobas will be charged with oopen murder, assault with intent to murder, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and three counts of felony firearm.
The shooting happened in the 100 block of East Paterson Street, and Coleman died after being taken to a hospital.
Cobas is Black, six-feet-two, weighs around 165 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair. KDPS is encouraging him to turn himself in.
