KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – An attempted robbery apparently led to the shooting of a teen Tuesday evening in Kalamazoo.
Around 7:45 p.m. officers with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety were notified that a shooting victim was enroute to a local hospital in a private vehicle. They say A 17-year-old male received medical treatment for a gunshot wound and is listed in stable condition.
KDPS says the preliminary investigation shows the shooting occurred in the 3000 block of Brookmont Drive during an attempted robbery following an arrainged meeting between the victim and two suspects. Following the shooting, the suspects fled on foot.
They are described as two younger Black males wearing dark hoodies. One of the suspects was also wearing a black mask.
During the investigation, a search warrant was executed at a nearby residence to locate evidence. The incident remains under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division.
