BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Battle Creek police have arrested a 57-year-old Galesburg man after he allegedly made violent threats toward a Battle Creek-area school and its students on a social media platform.
Officers, with assistance from the Michigan State Police, contacted the suspect at his residence Thursday and took him into custody on a charge of making threats to commit violence against students with a firearm.
Battle Creek Police say they were first notified of the threat Wednesday after community members saw the post online and reported it. The message referenced a protest planned by a student organization at the school. Battle Creek police immediately began investigating and quickly identified the suspect.
They say the investigation into this case is now concluded, but their department “will continue working with school administration to ensure the safety of all students and staff.”
There are no further details are being released at this time.
