ANN ARBOR, MI — Former Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore, 39, is in Washtenaw County jail this morning pending assault charges begin filed in an alleged incident that happened Tuesday afternoon near Ann Arbor.
This follows news from the university that he was fired for cause after an internal investigation determined he had engaged in an “inappropriate relationship” with a staff member. Details into the nature of that relationship have not been confirmed.
University of Michigan Athletic Director Warde Manuel said Moore’s firing was effective immediately and his conduct violated university policy, adding the university “maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.”
The alleged assault took place around the same time the firing was announced on Wednesday afternoon.
