LANSING, MI — Attendance will be a bit more limited at Lansing high school athletic events. The school district is implementing a new policy that allows only district students and students from the opposing high school to attend athletic events.
“All High School students must present a current Lansing School District ID or a current ID from the opposing school at the entry gate in order to be admitted to the event,” Lansing School District spokesperson Ryan Gilding said in a statement, adding that other spectators, such as parents and their families, will need to show ID. The district says the policy will take effect immediately.
Lansing athletic events are generally open to the public, and anyone can purchase a ticket, but the new policy will prohibit students from outside districts from attending.
