ALLEGAN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Allegan city council has approved adding a larger naloxone dispenser in public restrooms at Riverfront Plaza.
Naloxone is also known by the brand name Narcan and is used to reverse an opioid overdose by blocking the effects of the drug.
The current box for the material in the restroom only carries two boxes right now and will be replaced by an older newspaper box dispenser.
A mix of state and federal funding is paying for the box through state opioid response grants.
Grand Rapids-based Red Project will stock the naloxone for the box in Allegan.
