KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo is becoming more popular for tourism. It’s also a more accessible spot for those tourists who might have problems getting around.
Discover Kalamazoo held a news conference to announce the area is among the best in the nation our size at providing accessible restaurants, hotels, tourism destinations and other locations for elderly and disabled persons.
Discover Kalamazoo’s Jane Ghosh says they have now identified 131 of them.
Kelly Linton at the Disability Network went out and certified the locations.
She says it’s good business to be in compliance.
Now it’s all about getting the word out, so that those hunting around for a place to visit, know what the area has to offer.
They are partnering with Wheel of the World, which is an organization that specializes in promoting travel for those who are differently abled.
