CONSTANTINE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A police officer from Constantine has launched a Republican bid to unseat current GOP 36th District State Representative Steve Carra.
Max Coon is also a Constantine Township trustee. He officially launched his campaign Tuesday.
“I am running, in part, because I am disappointed in the lack of results our current representative has delivered for our district,” Coon said. “Recently, Rep. Carra voted against eliminating taxes on tips, overtime, and certain retirement benefits, all key priorities of President Trump’s America First agenda. In doing so, he put Michigan last.”
The 36th District covers St. Joseph and Cass counties.
Carra serves as a member of the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and the Oversight Committee. He also chairs the Oversight Subcommittee on Corporate Subsidies & State Investments, and serves as a member of the Oversight Subcommittee on State & Local Assistance Programs.
He was elected in 2020 to the 59th District State House seat, then after redistricting in Michigan, was elected to the 36th District position in 2022.
