ROSS TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Veterans Day ceremony will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery regardless if the federal government shutdown ends by November 11.
Fort Custer National Cemetery Advisory Committee chairman Colonel Frank Walker says they owe their gratitude to the veterans and cannot be silent on the memorial holiday.
The community has stepped up to provide the stage, loudspeakers, and chairs that the cemetery normally provides.
Walker says they even managed to secure a flyover to start the 11 a.m. ceremony on Tuesday.
