HOLT, MI — Most pumpkins end up in the trash this week, but there is potential to use them for further good. Delhi Township officials tell media partner 6 News WLNS in Lansing that they are accepting pumpkin donations for sheep to munch on.
The sheep currently live on the property of the township’s wastewater treatment plant where they help keep the grass under control. People can bring their leftover jack-o’-lanterns to the Delhi Township Recycling Center on Grovenburg Road.
As long as your pumpkins don’t have paint or decorations on them, you can donate them. Delhi Township Environmental Coordinator Allen Bryant tells WLNS the sheep appreciate the pumpkin snacks.
