OTSEGO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – 37-year-old Michael Kilbourn of Otsego has pled guilty to third-degree arson for a fire that destroyed a playground structure in Otsego last month.
Kilbourn faces up to 10 years in prison.
The judge agreed to drop the charges of contributing to the deliquency of a minor and fourth offense habitual offender for the guilty plea.
Kilbourn convinced his nephew to stuff clothing into the playground structure and then light them on fire.
The juvenile admitted he started the fire with his uncle and is charged with third-degree arson as well. He added he did it because he was scared of his uncle.
Kilbourn will be sentenced for the Northside Park fire on October 27.
