ALLEGAN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 37-year-old Hopkins man has been charged on five felony counts stemming from the bust of a suspected cock fighting event this past July in Allegan County.
Edin Dilson Rodas was arraigned a week ago in 57th District Court, with a bond set of $5,000.
He was arrested after deputies descended upon his residence July 29, following a video sent to the Sheriff’s Office by the animal advocacy group Showing Animals Respect and Kindness of an event that had been staged three days earlier. Hard evidence gathered at the time of the arrest supported the virtual claims made in the video.
Allegan County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Mike Brown added in a department statement that the case remains open, with additional suspects being identified. Anyone with any further information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office (269)673-0500 or Allegan County Silent Observer (855)745-3680.
