KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – When school starts in the Kalamazoo Public Schools Monday, teachers will be working without a contract.
Members of the Kalamazoo Education Association appeared at last night’s school board meeting with placards, and apparently money is the issue.
KEA president Heather Reid implored the board to offer a better deal.
She did not offer any details, except to say that to keep its teachers, the district needs to be competitive.
Reid says teachers have been working hard all week to get ready, and have enough on their plate this time of year.
Negotiations are ongoing.
