CENTREVILLE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A member of the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to be sentenced later this month on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge, after admitting to slapping her former significant other in a dispute earlier this year.
As part of a plea deal, three other charges, including two felonies were dismissed in court Friday for 39-year-old Tami Rey.
Appearing before St. Joseph County District Judge Jeffrey Middleton, Rey admitted she slapped the father of her child, her former significant other, during a May 23 incident in Kalamazoo. The incident occurred while the two were exchanging custody of their 11-month-old daughter
The judge told Rey the domestic violence count is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 93 days in jail or a $500 fine, but said he needs more information before he can decide on the sentence and the conditions of any possible probation.
Sentencing is set for August 26, 2025.
