LANSING, MI — The City of Lansing is reminding residents of its fireworks restrictions heading into the 4th of July holiday weekend. Fireworks may be used on private property now through July 5, according to the city’s ordinance. Hours are 11:00 a.m. – 11:45 p.m.
It is illegal to use fireworks on public property, including streets and sidewalks, as well as at schools and churches, according to the city’s website. Violations can result in a $1,000 fine.
The city says each July 4th, thousands of people, most often children and teens, are injured while using consumer fireworks. There are dangers using fireworks, according to the city, including the risk of devastating burns, other injuries, fires, and even death.
