LANSING, MI — Live entertainment on the weekends will end at the Green Door in Lansing for at least the remainder of summer. A post on the venues Facebook page shared the information and portends of major changes to come.
The bar plans one more big bash this weekend on Saturday. Details about the event is in the Facebook post, which was posted by Jen Costigan. The post is shared here in its entirety:
Good Day Lansing!
After 34 years of service to The Green Door and the Greater Lansing area, it is time I hang up my Captains hat. It has been an honor to be at the helm for over 3 decades.
After June 28th, 2025, The Green Door will be closing Fridays and Saturdays for live entertainment for the rest of the summer.
While I and the ole girl have weathered many storms and a pandemic,
things will be looking a little different upon reopening in the fall.
We are presently looking for a buyer to continue carrying the torch for this ICONIC music venue.
Thank you to my friends, co-workers, and employees through the decades.
You will always be family to me. I will never forget any of you.
Thank you to the many musicians, and bands that have graced our stage through the years. You will always hold a part of my heart. I will never forget you.
And of course, the best customers EVER !
Most of you have become GD familia! I will never forget you.
I have been blessed to have been part of all of your lives, and would not have made it this far without you all. I am beyond honored to hold so many precious memories, but it’s time i start the next Chapter of my life, and get this knee properly addressed. (Before I actually have a peg leg.)
This will be the end of a Green Door Era as you know it.
Please join me on Saturday, June 28th to share and make memories, with old and new friends. I will be going out in only Green Door fashion!
Opening act will be the infamous Big Willy Band. Headliner is Root Doctor, fronted by the one and only Freddie Cunningham.
