KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – To help combat the expected severe heat, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Services, and Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety will open the following water hydrants daily for the next several days at 1:00 p.m. and closing at 9:00 p.m. beginning Saturday, June 21.

Meantime Housing Resources Inc (HRI) in Kalamazoo will open as a cooling center at their 643 West Crosstown Parkway location Monday, June 23 and Tuesday, June 24 from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. each day.
You are asked to use the West Maple Street entrance. HRI says an air conditioned space and water will be provided for their neighbors and unhoused friends.

Men’s Shelter chapel open when temps exceed 90°F; shelter population remains in-house 24/7.
The Share Center – 120 Grove St, Battle Creek

Battle Creek Salvation Army – 400 Capital Ave NE
Open as a cooling center Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
Inasmuch House – 27 Green St, Battle Creek
Open for women and children through the Haven of Rest.
Albion Public Safety – 112 W Cass St, Albion
Lobby open during regular hours as a cooling center.
Albion City Hall – 112 W Cass St, Albion
Mayor’s Conference Room available Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. (Closed Fridays)
