PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The City of Portage will hold its fourth Portage Road 360 Community Open House next week to continue gathering community input on the project.
The open house will be held Wednesday, June 18, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Portage Zhang Senior Center, 203 East Centre Avenue.
City officials say the open house is part of their ongoing effort to shape the future of Portage Road, from East Osterhout Avenue to East Centre Avenue, by gathering public input on potential roadway and corridor improvements.
At Community Open House #4, attendees will have the opportunity to:
• View updated renderings and vision and goal statements from the Portage Road 360 planning team.
• Review recommended preliminary designs, including street layouts and multi-use path features and traffic-calming strategies.
• Explore new interactive stations and help prioritize design elements like lighting, landscaping, and green infrastructure.
““Community voices have shaped every step of this process,” said Peter Dame, Chief Development Officer. “This open house is a key step in refining the vision for Portage Road. Whether it’s improving pedestrian safety, slowing traffic, or enhancing the look and feel of the corridor with trees, lighting, and pathways – we want to ensure the final design reflects the community’s priorities.”
