DETROIT, MI — Along with a move to new downtown Detroit headquarters later this year, General Motors says it’s investing four billion dollars in three U.S. plants, moving some production back to the United States from Mexico.
GM, which operates several plants in the Lansing area, says the plans will bring assembly of the Chevrolet Blazer and Equinox back to the U.S.
Some of the money will also be used to convert a Michigan plant expected to produce electric vehicles into making gas-powered SUVs and trucks. The move comes after President Trump imposed 25 percent tariffs on imported vehicles and auto parts.
