ALLEGAN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Measles has come to Allegan County.
The county’s health department reported Friday a confirmed case of an unnamed resident who contracted the highly contagious disease earlier in the week. The only indication of where this person may have been is at the following locations in Kent County:
Coachmen Strength & Conditioning in Byron Center (7780 Clyde Park Av.) Monday from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
University of Michigan Health West in Wyoming (5900 Byron Center Av.) Wednesday from 2:18-5:02 a.m.
University of Michigan Health West Southwest Health Center in Wyoming (2215 44th St.) Wednesday from 11:46 a.m.-3:45 p.m.
Persons who were at those locations on those dates and during those times are asked to monitor their condition for measles symptoms (high fever, cough, runny nose, red and watery eyes, a red, raised, blotchy rash, tiny white spots on the inner cheeks, gums and roof of the mouth) for three weeks.
If one does contract measles and seeks medical attention, they are asked to contact medical facilities officials in advance before arrival in order for proper preparation to prevent further exposure.
No further information on the affected person was disclosed by the ACHD.
