CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WTVB/WNWN) – The Calhoun County Sheriffs Department is continuing to investigate a shooting Tuesday evening that left a female in critical condition. At approximately 6:20 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a shooting victim in the 11000 block of Gorsline Road in Pennfield Township.
Upon arrival, deputies located a 34-year-old Pennfield Township woman outside the residence with an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
All individuals present at the scene were interviewed as part of the investigation.
The Calhoun County Special Response Team (SRT) was initially deployed to secure the area. Once the scene was determined to be safe, the Calhoun Area Multi-Jurisdictional Evidence Team (CAMJET)—which includes representatives from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Tribal Police, and the Marshall Police Department—responded to process the scene and collect evidence.
The investigation remains active and ongoing by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch Authority, Michigan State Police, Battle Creek Police Department, Marshall Police Department, Tribal Police Department, Pennfield Fire Department, and LifeCare Ambulance.
