MARSHALL, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan State Police are leading an investigation into a shooting involving a Calhoun County Sheriff’s Deputy.
Wednesday morning at 10:44 a.m. Calhoun County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a report of a possible shooting victim who was reported to be suicidal.
Upon arrival, deputies encountered a 41-year-old Marshall man armed with what appeared to be a long rifle-style gun, which was pointed at a deputy. During the encounter, the individual was fatally shot. No deputies were injured.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Michigan State Police and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office of Professional Standards.
Police say further details will be provided during a media briefing scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday.
