ST. IGNACE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Police are sharing details about a chase over the Mackinac Bridge and a carjacking Monday.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office says 27-year-old Jack Maibach of Northville was being chased starting in Pellston and crashed through a toll booth gate on the bridge, going north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75.
Police lost sight of the vehicle until he reached St. Ignace in the Upper Peninsula and say he “violently resisted arrest” when he was finally caught on foot in the parking lot of the Hampton Inn.
He tried to carjack a woman in St. Ignace, but she drove away with him clinging to the vehicle until he fell off.
