LANSING, MI — The Delta Township Board on Monday voted to cancel plans for its annual fireworks display near Lansing Mall, according to a report from WILX-TV in Lansing.
The recent failure by voters in the township to pass a millage increase is the reason for the cancellation, according to township board members. The annual fireworks show drew thousands of people each year to Sharp Park, filling the parking lot at Lansing Mall with vehicles to view the display.
The fireworks show this year, set to cost $35,000, was already scheduled for July 3, 2025, according to the townships website. As part of a contract with Night Magic Displays, according to WILX, the township will have to pay a 40% buyout cost, or just under $14,000. The township hopes to negotiate a smaller number with the company.
