LANSING, MI — Summer in mid-Michigan means orange barrel season. This Wednesday marks the start of more headaches for drivers in the area.
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin multiple ramp and lane closures at the I-96/Lansing Road interchange in Eaton County for rebuilding on Wednesday, May 7, as part of a three-year, $44 million investment on I-96.
Traffic restrictions will include the following: The southbound Lansing Road ramp to westbound I-96 being closed from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, until 5:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1; Westbound I-96 will have one lane closed from Waverly Road to Lansing Road from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, until 5:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3; and the northbound Lansing Road ramp to westbound I-96 will be closed from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, until 5:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29.
Motorists should expect delays and follow posted detours.
