MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – Volunteers from the Marshall Area Conservation Committee (MACC), in partnership with the city of Marshall, will plant about 60 trees Saturday, as part of an event called “The Greening of Marshall”
The trees were purchased with $25,000 donated by Ford Motor Company to the city of Marshall to help the municipality continue its status as a Tree City USA, which provides communities with a framework to maintain and grow their tree cover.
City officials say the trees will provide heat and noise reduction, prevent stormwater runoff, create habitats for wildlife, and increase home values in Marshall’s neighborhoods.
